Nike SB Dunk High “Cheech & Chong” Goes Up In Smoke

Nike SB and Todd Bratrud have set off a firestorm of controversy with their “Cheech & Chong” Dunks, so much so that they could face legal actions if they release the sneakers.
There’s rumors floating around that the sneakers have been pushed back to May and aren’t actually being scrapped, but no retailer has come forward to confirm such a thing.  Todd Bratrud, who designed the sneakers, hasn’t commented on the situation and NikeStore is telling consumers to check with their local retailers for more info.The only confirmations we are getting about about the cancellations.
UK retailers Scene and Note who have already received their supply of the Nike SB Dunk High “Cheech & Chong” for the planned release on 4/20 are reporting that they’ve been told by Nike SB not to release the sneakers due to copyright issues.  It’s unknown whether or not Marin and Chong sent a Cease & Desist letter to Nike SB about the shoes or if Paramount Studios, who produced “Up In Smoke” and “Still Smokin”, put a stop to the release.The Cheech & Chong brand name is well protected by Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong, who have made millions since the 70′s acting like senseless potheads. Cheech & Chong’s publicist couldn’t be reached for further details.
